Inclusion & Belonging at Docker

At Docker, we believe in building more than great developer tools; we’re building a community where everyone belongs. Our mission is to make software development faster, easier, and more collaborative for everyone, and that starts with the team behind it. We’re deeply committed to fostering a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture for all.

当社のコミットメント

We’re committed to creating an environment where diverse perspectives aren’t just welcomed they’re essential. That means equitable opportunities for growth, honest conversations about where we are and where we want to be, and a culture where every person feels seen and supported.
We know this is ongoing work. We’re not here to claim we’ve figured it all out — we’re here to keep getting better.

How Inclusion Shows Up at Docker

These aren’t talking points; they’re the practices and structures we’ve built into how we hire, work, and grow together.

  • Equitable Hiring Our hiring process is designed to evaluate candidates on skills, potential, and impact, not pedigree. We encourage applications from people who don’t check every box, because we know diverse experience makes teams stronger.
  • Inclusive Benefits Our benefits are built with diverse families and lifestyles in mind, from inclusive parental leave for all paths to parenthood, to flexible schedules that respect personal needs, to 100% company-paid health coverage for employees and their families.
  • Mentorship & Career Growth We invest in helping everyone at Docker advance. That means access to learning stipends, internal mobility opportunities, and managers who are accountable for the growth of their teams.
  • Psychological Safety We use anonymous feedback tools and regular check-ins to make sure every voice is heard, not just the loudest ones in the room. Open dialogue across teams is something we actively cultivate, not just encourage.
  • Remote by Design Our async-first, remote-first culture means inclusion isn’t an afterthought for distributed team members. Time zone flexibility, async rituals, and virtual connection programs ensure everyone can participate fully wherever they are.

From day one, I felt truly welcomed and included. The onboarding process was smooth, thoughtfully structured, and helped me hit the ground running. What stood out most was the genuine sense of connection and support from my teammates — it instantly felt like I belonged.

Building Belonging in a Remote World

  • Belonging is harder to build across time zones and Slack channels than it is in a shared office, so we’re intentional about it.
  • We bring people together through company off-sites, virtual team events, Slack communities built around shared interests and identities, and programs like Lunch Roulette that spark connections across teams. We also create space for open dialogue and peer support so that connection isn’t just top-down.
  • We believe a remote-first company can have a stronger culture of inclusion than an in-office one, but only if you design for it. That’s what we’re working to do.
